Good photography from daily deals sites
Well, Saturday morning, had a good breakfast, I sat down and thought how wonderful the food experience normally brought to us, and remembered the other day, I saw some really nice photos on one of the daily deal website.
Spreets has been promoting this $10 Decadent Devonshire Tea for Two for two in Adelaide. Including tea or Coffee, Freshly Baked Scones, locally Made Jam & Cream…
I was like, wow – what nice photos… and only for $10, if I was in Adelaide, definitely worth a go.
How great photos will help daily deals to sell? Yes, a lot. As a consumer myself, when I see great photos from the deal website, I would get initially attracted to them, related thinking will be such great photos, the food/experience/service must be good too. No matter what the end result might be, right or wrong. The first step – using well shot photos is definitely correct.
Using Instagram? Well, I would say ‘no’. Because Instagram will always add some ‘charming’ value to your photos, when you sell, people might assume that you have something to hide thus need the treatment to touch up.
Let me what you think?

Rodhi Ghar Restaurant deal Review – from our guest bloger
Another lovely daily deal review from our guest blogger, this time is Kim L from accidental encounters, she tried out Rodhi Ghar in Melbourne and below is her report –
———————————————————————————————————–
Have you ever tried dumplings made with Indian spices? I haven’t until recently.
The dumplings that I am used to eating are strictly Chinese, like “Xiao Long Bao’s” and the usual Yum Cha dishes at a Chinese restaurant.

Rodhi Ghar restaurant - SDD
I had the opportunity to try out a restaurant on Lygon Street called Rodhi Ghar, thanks to SmarterDailyDeal.
Rodhi Ghar is a Nepalese fusion restaurant. That explains their dumplings with indian spices. The coupon deal I had was the “All you can dumplings for two with a beer each” for AUD 78.00.
True to it’s voucher, we had unlimited bowls of uber yummy indian dumplings with a beer each!
Not only that, we had great table service too. The staff who served us was very attentive. Every time our dumplings bowl were almost empty, she will come around and ask us if we want some more to which we said “Yes please!”

My brother and I had 3 big bowls of dumplings! I was full to the brim during our 2nd bowl of dumplings.
They have a policy of only refilling your bowls when it’s empty. It’s fair enough. If you can’t finish it why waste food right?

Dinner at Rodhi Ghar
We had such a great time at Rodhi Ghar.

Kardashian’s curves not garanteed by Skechers
Just watched CNN, they joked about this case – The US government advised consumers that simply wearing pair of Skechers’ fitness shoes is not going to get you Brooke Burke’s toned body or Kim Kardashian’s curves. Anderson Cooper laughed about it and showed more US commercials about body tuning. So the Skechers company will pay US40 million dollars to settle charges by the Federal Trade Commission for the unfounded claims made about its Shape-ups shoes would help people lose weight and strengthen their butt, leg and stomach muscles.

Brooke Burke in Skechers ad.

Kim Kardashian in Skechers ad.
I was like ‘ah?’ Who will really think that buy simply wearing these rocky shoes, we will get the body like Kardashian or Burke? That’s too naive, isn’t it? Maybe they are wearing Skechers’ shoes for walking or light exercises, however, I do believe some of their body figure come from genes and diet, and expansive massage and care services…
However, I don’t really support the manufacturers think using celebrity to endorse their products can work magic, which is irresponsible for the consumers & try to miss transfer the enthusiasm that fan have for celebrities to the products.
As consumers, we need to realize, celebrities might do the commercial for financial payback, not necessarily they use or love the product. Imagine, the shoes only come out of factory 1 month ago, how can anyone claim that her fantastic body is the result from it?
Instead of putting money in something you are not sure will work, rather buy some daily deals – gym & exercise, or dancing class deals, which you know will definitely work towards your body toning goal.

An unreal daily deal from China…
We have seen a lot of travel daily deals these days, although we need to pay money to buy them, at least you know you will go there for sure & probably have a great time.

China's unreal daily deal
Almost 60,000 Chinese netizens responded to a lottery posted over the weekend by group-buying site Meituan for a trip to the Scarborough Shoal, but later, the post was taken down. From the above screenshot, you can see another site was advertising the same deal – lottery to win a day trip, which would be linking to the original site, which advertised as ”A dream come true, Meituan takes you to Huangyan Island for a day.”
The Scarborough Shoal, also known in Chinese as Huangyan Island, has been at the center of a growing dispute between China and the Philippines, with each side confronting the other over the contested territory.
The deal website representative didn’t respond to journalist’s enquiries about whether or how the trip would be carried out. According local newspaper, an official said such a trip would carry “enormous risk,” and the possibility of reaching the islands would be “incredibly small.” At the moment, only naval ships and approved fishing vessels are allowed to sail to that disputed island.
Industry experts said that a normal journey to the island by sea would take 30 hours from Hainan province. And perhaps of greater risk to tourists than any naval confrontation, the typhoon season is just starting up in the South China Sea.
Considering all these possible hazards, and the fact that the original ad has been taken down, guess the chance for these Chinese tourists to go see what island that China and the Philippines are fighting for is pretty slim. But since we are talking about the daily deals, this deal has not really responsibly listed out how the winners would be selected, how they would collect the prizes, what would happen if they could not collect. etc. So it is bascially a nice picture to create more ‘buzz’ than anything else.
Luckily all the travel deals listed on Australian’s deals website are at least tractable. Check more daily deals today and plan your next holiday for real!

@#$%^&*@#$%^

LOL…what can I can? they know what is important?

Mother’s Day A Must Do: Cook something for mum!
Happy Mother’s Day!
If you haven’t done anything, here is a recipe to rescue you — simple & easy, make some delicious pie for her… she has been cooking for you for ages, now it’s your turn! 1hour – Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Pot Pies!!!

Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Pot Pies
Preparation Time: 35 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
50g Western Star Butter
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 large (500g) skinless chicken fillets
4 rashers rindless bacon, chopped
1 leek, sliced
250g button mushrooms, thinly sliced
2 cloves crushed garlic
1/3 cupplain flour
2 cups good quality chicken stock
1/2 cup frozen corn kernels
Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons cream
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 sheets puff pastry, each cut into 4 circles or squares
Method
1) Melt 20g butter and oil in a large non stick frypan, panfry chicken until cooked through. Remove, stand for 5 minutes before shredding or roughly chopping
2) Melt remaining butter in same frypan and saute bacon, leek, mushrooms and garlic over medium heat until leek is softened and bacon is slightly golden and caramelised.
3) Add flour and cook, stirring continuously for 30 seconds. Remove from heat and gradually stir in stock. Add chicken, corn and seasonings and cook until mixture thickens and comes to the boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Transfer to bowl, stir in cream and parsley and cool. Refrigerate until cold.
4) Divide filling between 6 x 1 cup capacity ovenproof dishes or ramekins. Brush edges of dishes with egg. Place pastry on ramekin, with a little overhanging, brush pastry with egg and make a slit in pastry to allow steam to escape. Bake at 200oC for 25-30 minutes or until puffed and golden.
- Cooling pie fillings before assembly prevents pastry from becoming soggy and greasy. If making a large pie, use a 2.5 litre capacity shallow ovenproof dish
Here you go! Enjoy the lovely pies and have a wonderful day with your mum!

Does breastfeed have an age limit?
Time magazine’s new cover has definitely created a heated debate among the public… all friends around me are talking about it. I hope this is not the trick that Time wants to sell more magazines… sorry, kidding.

Time new cover - mum breastfeeding
This 26 year-old American parenting blogger, Grumet, demonstrating breast feeding for her nearly 4 year-old son Aram on the cover of this week’s Time magazine.
She said she was happy to openly support attachment parenting. What is attachment parenting? *It’s a theory based on the notion that the strong emotional bond forged during early childhood has lifelong benefits. But does it talk about only breast feeding?
Well, call me conservative, I found this hard to believe. Yes, the World Health Organization encourages all mothers to breastfeed until the age of two, along with appropriate foods; But they are not saying age 4?!
Most of my friends who are mums stopped breastfeed when their children reached one year old and started to feed them other food. To me, the breastfeed is to help the children to get good nutrition before they have the ability to consume normal food. 4 year old? they eat burgers like adults already!
I also heard of some cases that some mums feed their children till age 5, 6 with the purpose to keep slim. That’s really unbelievable, you never know what effect this behavior will add into children’s life, but only for your own benefit?
I believe there are many many other ways to create the bond and strengthen the bond with your children without continuous breastfeeding. If you don’t know, then google it, or talk to other mums, or read some parenting books, bet you will find out.
Find some daily deals for family fun, taking kids out, getting them into some parenting day activity, going to theme parks, telling them stories, hugging them… plenty options…
Have a nice day!

Vidal Sassoon will be missed…
What happened recently? MCA, Maurice Sendak ( ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ Author ) passed away, and now Vidal Sassoon just gone! RIP…
I like Vidal Sassoon, he is a hair stylist pioneer in the fashion world and created a natural look in the 1960s – he came up with ” wash and wear” looks – liberating many women from weekly salon trips to have their hair done at that time (we all love it at modern times too). The beloved Bob style, the Five-Point cut and the “Greek Goddess,” are all belong to this category. Even today, most hair salons and contests, stylists still hang bob cut posters and recreate Vidal Sassoon’s cuts to different levels.

Vidal Sassoon & His Bob Cut
Vidal Sassoon is also a great author and business man. He wrote two books which were both best sellers at the time – “Sorry I Kept You Waiting Madam,” and “A Year of Health and Beauty.” He created a kingdom of hair product business then sold to Richardson-Vicks, a U.S. health and beauty supply company, which later was acquired by Procter & Gamble. These days in supermarket, what we saw Vidal Sassoon products are all marketed by Procter & Gamble.
RIP, Vidal Sassoon. You will be missed!

Adam (MCA) Beastie boys,RIP!
Our office was in a sad mood for the past few days. Cause Adam Yauch (MCA), the co-founder of seminal rap trio Beastie Boys, died of cancer last Friday, at age merely 47. He had been in treatment for salivary gland cancer since 2009.

Adam (MCA) Yauch, RIP
Our web engineer was a fan of his, so he kind of in a low mood. “I really liked Beastie boys. especially their first album–Licensed to Ill in 80s; best selling rap album of the decade!!! also later the Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication…” he could not stop talking…
We give our best to Adam Yauch and wish him rest in peace in the heaven. Here we attached one of his favmourite video here – No Sleep Till Brooklyn- RIP!

A ‘real-life barbie’, sounds creepy to me
Have you heard about Valeria Lukyanova? I just got a friend’s link from Facebook about this new Internet frenzy. She is the most famous Russian woman on the Russian-language internet. I am not surprised. She has the exact Barbie doll looks. Her FB friends have exceeded 181000 since she joined in Apr.2012. OMG!

Valeria Lukyanova's Facebook Timeline
On FB, she has posted countless pictures of herself online to show off her Barbie look & body.

Valeria lukyanova's emotionless eyes
She claimed that she has gone through hard work, strict diet and of course her great genes to get what she has now. Not sure how big the plastic surgery has played in this process. But to me, she looks very ‘doll’ like for sure, especially her big blue emotionless eyes with empty stare, make her soulless, quite creepy.
Her body shape is out of the world (human world)- huge chest to her tiny waist. A lot of people argue if all her photos have been heavily photoshopped, who knows? She looks really like the Barbie song ““Life in plastic, it’s fantastic.”
She said she is into music and spiritual activities, she posted a lot of songs which were written by her. A talented Barbie! When is Ken, by the way?
Is she real? or some company’s marketing gimmick to create some virus buzz? No one knows yet. But I have to say, it’s been successful and she definitely acquired lots of fans & increasing.
Anyway, probably if any daily deals are selling discounted Barbie, the sales may go up. Let’s see.

lara Bingle’s show on Channel 10, are you going to watch?
If weekend got bored, reading some gossip might help to kill some time.

Being Lara Bingle
You know that Lara Bingle is back to picture. has signed a deal with Channel Ten to star in her own reality series in Kardashian-style – “Being Lara Bingle”. What kind of show is that? She said she would be working on a number of things throughout the show, like sunglasses, skincare, jewellery… I guess another way to promote some brands or products… she ‘s moving into a house with best friend and manager -Hermione and her brother – quite an arrangement.
Aso a while ago, lara bingle was snapped by a lurking photographer as she stood without clothes at the window of her Bondi apartment. It was explained that she was closing the curtains after shower. Not sure if that’s a ‘teaser’ or sort of advertisement for the new show.
I can’t imagine how many people will watch the show and how many advertisers the producer can get for it. For some reason, I didn’t understand why 10 decided to go with her – maybe the controversy sells? Maybe she is someone not so many people like that much but ‘famous’, people will want to know what happens in her life? For whatever reason, we might know soon.
Are you going to watch “Being Lara Bingle”?
Happy life is without terrorists…
Happy Friday! Are you going to use any daily deals this weekend? If so, enjoy!
Luckily that in Australia, we don’t really have many terrorists. But we are aligned with the people in America and many other countries to fight terrorism.
Just yesterday, US West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) released some documents recovered from Osama bin Laden’s compound in the raid, which killed the former al Qaeda leader a year ago.
The huge report, “Letters from Abbottabad: Bin Ladin Sidelined?” studies 17 declassified documents totaling 175 pages in Arabic and 197 pages in English, including letters and electronic correspondences dating from between September 2006 and April 2011. According to the CTC, the letters authored by al Qaeda leadership including Osama bin Laden largely focus on Muslims “suffering at the hands of his jihadi ‘brothers.’” The document expose Bin Ladin’s frustration with his jihadi “brothers” and his inability to control their “incompetence.” I guess because he has spend all his time hiding…
If you are interested and have patience, here is the document for you to read —
Bin Laden Raid Documents (Translated)
I didn’t really spend time on it, but I believe that this document will give us a lot to learn about the al Qaeda’s belief, strategy and much more. For countries to fight with the left over from Al Qaeda, this will be a great support.
Anyway, too much serious stuff for a Friday!
Have a lovely weekend, if you haven’t got Mother’s Day gift sorted, don’t forget to check daily deals for last minute ideas!
Oxtail stew slow cooker recipe – yum!
The weather is getting chillier, it’s time to start using more of your slow cooker and cook up some nice stews and soup. Share with the whole family or friends, happy & yummy!
Today I would like to share a Oxtail slow cooker recipe, I cooked it many many times… it’s easy and delicious!

Salt and pepper, some paprika
1 tray of oxtail chunks, washed and pad dry – I always buy from Coles
1/4 cup of olive oil
1 red or brown onion, chopped
1 cup red wine
1 cup Coca-Cola (pepsi is ok too)
1L Water
2 bay leaves (optional)
5 carrots peeled and chopped into large chunks
3 medium sized potatoes peeled and chopped into large chunks
1 stalk of celery
Directions
Put olive oil in the frying pan, medium heat. Then onion, fry for 3-5 minuets until the edge start golden. Next put in throw in oxtail chunks & brown on all sides. Once the color changed, add salt, pepper and paprika. Then add in Coca-Cola and red wine, bring to boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.
In slow cooker, put potato, celery and carrots a the bottom, then pull the oxtail soup from pan into the slow cooker. Add bay leaves if you prefer. then 1L of water. Turn on high heat for 5 hours, or low heat for 9-10 hours. Then the delicious oxtail stew is done! Eat with bread or rice, up to you!
Slow cooker is great, so keep an eye on all the daily deals, sometimes you could get a bargain!
What to make a happy world?
The world is moving so fast, everyday, so many things happened. Us, everybody tries to catch up with the world progress, but all afraid that we will be left afar.
In the US, President Barack Obama marked the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death (an event that his re-election campaign has touted as one of his greatest achievements in office) with a flashlight trip to Afghanistan, delivering an election-year message to all Americans that the war is winding down. We said “phew!”
In Australia, Optus, the country’s second-biggest telco, said today it will cut 750 jobs over coming months as a major restructure of its business aimed to boost profitability. Oh really? Despite massive layoffs & interest rate rise, ANZ still took 200 staff on a 1.75million luxury cruise… speechless; Police of NSW Fraud and Cybercrime Squad raid the Health Services Union’s Sydney headquarters, executing a search warrant, trying to uncover corrupt behavior.
Enough & enough… we would like to make the world a happier place, but everyone has to start from him/herself.
let’s get some peace, relax a bit by entertaining ourselves watching the newly released “Dark Knight Rises” trailer.
At least we can emerge ourselves in the movie for a couple of hours. but after that, we have to face the reality. We use our energy towards the correct direction, we are kind to people, parents and friends, we work hard to prosper;…if everybody doing the right thing, the world will become a happier place, we will be happy too. Also don’t forget the daily deals which make our life easier.
Need more daily deals to enjoy dessert…
Love desserts! There are some daily deals that cater my needs – like high-tea, chocolate making class, dessert making class… but comparing to normal dining deals, sweet deals are much less. This afternoon I specially craving for something nice and sweet, so after one ice cream, one Ferrero Rocher, I am starting to following this recipe to make the apple tart!

Crispy Apple Tart
INGREDIENTS
1 1/4 cups flour, prepare more for dusting
12 tbsp. unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
7 (Golden Delicious) apples, peeled, cored, and halved
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup apricot jam
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (YUM)
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Combine flour, 8 tbsp. butter, and salt in a food processor and pulse until pea-size crumbles form. Drizzle in 3 tbsp. ice-cold water and pulse again until dough is moistened, about 3—4 times.
2) Put dough on a work surface and form into a flat disk; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
3) Unwrap dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling stick, flatten dough into a 13″ circle and then transfer to a 11″ tart pan with a removable bottom; trim edges; chill for 1 hour.
4) Heat oven to 190Cº. Thinly slice apple into sections, keeping slices together. Press sliced apple gently to fan it out.
5) Place 1 fanned apple on outer edge of the tart dough, pointing inward; repeat the rest. Separate remaining apple slices. Starting where the apple touch and working your way in, layer apples to create a tight rose pattern. Fill in any gaps with remaining apple. Sprinkle with sugar and then dot with remaining butter.
6) Bake until golden brown, 60—70 minutes.
7) Meanwhile, heat apricot jam in a small saucepan until warmed and loose; pour through a fine strainer into a small bowl and set aside.
Transfer tart to a wire rack; using a pastry brush, brush top of tart with jam. Let cool completely before slicing and serving with whipped cream. Soooooooo yummy!
Hope you enjoy it too!
