Daily Deals Trend in 2013

Since we love deals and vouchers, and also to be in this industry. Looking back on 2012, a lot of things happened – first, many daily deal companies have closed the door, the market has shrank to only about 10 major players in Australia market – Groupon, Ouffer, Deals.com.au (I noticed that it changed to the format as Ouffer, probably already merged with Ouffer), Ourdeal, Cudo, LivingSocial, Scoopon and Spreets (I also heard that Spreets is going to step out of daily deal market fairly soon.

In terms of the type of the deals, the most popular ones are still dining deals, beauty & SPA deals, the trending ones are Travel, online course and products.

Travel deals were very popular in the middle of 2012, a lot of deals to Thailand and be sold and enjoyed. We can see cheaper deals are more welcomed than luxury deals, given the price mark sensitivity. If you ask someone to just spend over $2000 without too much thinking on the internet, that might need a lot of push.

Online course became a real hit, a lot of merchants started to roll out solid project to create program to sell online – IT training, photography, English course, so on and so forth.

Products have been a hero across daily deal websites since 2012, all sorts of products have been promoted, sold and used. As any other places, there were satisfactions and complains. I just want to remind all the daily deal lovers here – don’t only look at the sale price of the products, consider the value and if you really need the products, then make the final purchasing decision.

It’s the first day of 2013. Freaking scary? Isn’t it? Where has year 2012 gone? That thought might lingers on a lot of people’s mind.

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the South Pacific has been quite bumpy. Things came out one after another.

This is a hottest news that stirred the whole royal family and the whole world – a French tabloid’s publication published topless photos of the sunbathing Kate Middleton, taken during a pretour private vacation in Provence, France. The royal family has called out the magazine for the “grotesque” violation of privacy,  and announced that a lawsuit against the publisher Closer is on the way to file.

Even the publication group CEO jumped out complaining Closer France’s action to be degraded ”We deplore the publication of these intrusive and offensive pictures and have asked that Closer France takes these pictures down immediately from its website and desist from publishing any further pictures. Bauer Media and Closer UK regards publication of these photographs as a gross intrusion of their Royal Highnesses’ privacy.”

The royal couple, despite all these upsetting events, is currently traveling around Asia as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee tour, they are doing their job and with great attitude.

We hope that Kate and William won’t be too disappointed about the incidence given the publication is the tabloid and sometimes they are like killers without knowing the limit.
